Jamie Oliver

"Jamie Oliver's campaign to improve school food is well-meaning, but misses the point. School food is meant to be disgusting, to strengthen the character."
Peter Oborne, political editor of the Evening Standard, 21st March, 2005

That might have been true of the school food of the past. But the food against which Jamie Oliver is campaigning doesn't strengthen the character. What bad food achieves is sick and overweight children: unable to concentrate, unable to exercise; dependent on car rides, asthma pumps and ritalin.
